Rolls-Royce Project Cullinan Mule Revealed

Recently Rolls-Royce announced that they are planning on offering an all-terrain vehicle in 2018. In advance of the prototype mule being unleashed on public roads they thought to alert other motorists of its looming presence.

And quite a presence the mule is: a short wheel base Phantom with slimmed-down rear doors and a bonkers rear wing. A ‘Ricer-Royce’? Well it does have a Fast and Furious vibe to it but we suspect that the wing’s primary purpose is to simulate the aerodynamic impact of a typical two-box SUV back-end.

The project aims to make this new Rolls-Royce an ‘Effortless, Everywhere’ vehicle. Which may mean that its off road capabilities will have to be more Land Rover than X5. The mule is to be used for on-road testing initially with suspension dynamics and tall profile stability being evaluated on various road surfaces.

The project is named after the Cullinan diamond, a massive stone mined in South Africa, the largest gem quality diamond ever found. Think of the mule as a ‘diamond in the rough’ and then think of all the money Rolls-Royce will take to the bank when the Cullinan project has been chiselled to perfection.
