Potentially the star of the show, the new Lincoln Continental has drawn the biggest crowd in the first press day of the 2015 New York Auto Show. Despite its controversial design, the new Lincoln limousine is a beautiful machine that could give the American luxury brand a new, fresh start in the market. When Lincoln first unveiled the concept, more than a few observers noted its Bentley-esque overtones. The Bentley chief designer accused Lincoln of ripping off the Flying Spur design, an incident which set the stage for the big unveil in New York this week.
Lincoln’s newest Continental has moved away from styling cues like the winged grille, to a more aggressive front fascia that aims to deliver luxury on the road. The car features a three-box design with a long hood and short overhangs, that give the car a sportier look as well. The cabin is high-class, as any respectable limousine would be. The car was designed for rear-seat passengers who get to sit on Venetian leather seats with Alcantara inserts and 30-way adjustability. The headliner is satin and a tray holds the champagne and glasses.
Lincoln sought to match the exterior’s grandeur with a sufficiently luxurious interior, and in this regard they have completely succeeded.
A 3.0-liter turbocharged engine will be underneath the hood of the Continental when it reaches production, which is unique to the brand.
No pricing was made available at the moment.
