2017 BMW 1 Series Sedan on the race track

BMW is in full testing mode at Nurburgring. After the new 2016 760Li and 3 Series LCI were spotted doing hot laps, another new model goes around the legendary track; the F25 1 Series Sedan.

The new four-door compact sedan will join the BMW fleet in 2017 as a response to the popular Mercedes-Benz CLA and Audi A3 Sedan.

BMW’s 1 Series Sedan has been developed to support front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

It is built internally under the name NES (New Entry-Level Sedan) and makes use of the front-wheel drive architecture which will be used in many models by BMW, including the new 2 Series Active Tourer and second generation X1.

BMW aims to bring the 1 Series Sedan to the same proportions as the E46 3 Series with a design featuring the angular and sleek headlights seen on recent BMW cars, which extend into the kidney grille. The nose sits more upright whole the front bumper sports the usual air intakes. In the back, the F52 sedan gets the L-shaped taillights.

Under the hood, the 1 Series Sedan will carry either three- and four-cylinder inline direct-injection petrol and common-rail diesel units.

The U.S. market is likely to import the 120i and 125i sedan models.
